MGT 4230

International Business Management

This is an assignment for which we had to choose an article from The Economist, written after 2010, preferably post-2020, that was related to the region chosen for our final group project.  Mine being the Middle East, analyzed an article relating to the Turkish economic state.  Within this analysis, we were asked to give three main takeaways and explain their significance as they relate to International Business.

MGT 4230

International Business Management

This sample is the second article analyzed as part of The Economist Special Report analysis assignment.  Here I analyzed another article relating to Turkey; this time, it's political dealings and volatile foreign policies.  Again, we were asked to give three takeaways and explain their relation to International Business.

This sample is the final project for this class.  We were directed to take all the information we learned throughout the course and create an imaginary event we would have liked to host.  We were given a list of elements that we were required to provide details regarding, as well as allowed a level of personal creativity.

film

ITAL 4550

Italian Cinema and Literature

This was the final paper assignment for this course, completely open-ended, allowing students to choose their own topic as it related to anything learned during the course of the class.  I personally believe this is some of my best academic work such that in feedback on the paper, my professor wrote, "Your essay is one that every teacher would like to read, certainly me. Vast and richly detailed, beautifully written, more than an essay on a single theme, it is a splendid horizontal expansion of a meta-cinematic element which thus becomes a way to retrace one of the fundamental axes of contemporary cinema itself with Antonioni's film as the pivot. Its quality is such that it is not necessary to cite this or that passage; it is the general breath that derives from it that is fertile and suggestive for the mind and eyes of the reader" - Professor Edoardo Rialti, Lorenzo de Medici University

ANTH 3320

World Archaeology

Another open-ended final paper, this class also allowed students to write a full-length research paper regarding any topic related to the course.  I had recently done extensive research into dog breeds as I was looking to get a puppy at the time.  Through my research, I discovered that many of the internet lists of the oldest dog breeds were, in fact, incorrect.  From this, I developed my research, based on archaeological evidence, into the true oldest dog breeds, by region.

ITAL 1

ITAL 2010

Intermediate Italian 1

This was a homework assignment for this course, where we were directed to write a short paragraph answering questions in Italian about our pets, including a short, funny story about them and a picture.  Please enjoy the photo of my sweet, puppy dog, Fen.

ITAL 2020

Intermediate Italian 2

This was the final project for this class.  We were directed to choose a topic of something that was important to us.  For some, this was their major, their passion or a sport they've played for many years.  For me, it was clean waterways, as I grew up in the marshlands of Hilton Head, SC and my younger sister and I spent many days when we were younger, pulling trash out of the marsh in our backyard.  Some of the photos included in this are of that very backyard.

food

ITAL 4980

Italian Food and Culture

This was a short homework assignment, directing students to write an excerpt regarding a movie in which food plays a central role or is pertinent to the plot of the film.

ITAL 4980

Italian Food and Culture

This was the final paper assignment for this course.  We were directed to write a research paper in Italian about a topic relating to the significance of food within Italian culture.  As we had learned in class, the tomato, a key ingrediant in countless Italian dishes, does not actually originate in Europe at all, I chose to research the history of the tomato's journey to Italy and its integration into Italian cuisine.

ITAL 4980

Italian Food and Culture

This assingment was the main final project for this course.  We were directed to think of a topic that relates to the class, Italian food and food culture.  From this direction, we were prompted to go interview local people regarding this topic.  I chose to study the seasonality of food items available in the local markets, asking vendors how their product differ throughout the year.
